About me
Marcus Coleman is a motivated, professional, and gregarious captain. He anticipates his clients’ needs and delivers timely, transparent, and attentive service. Marcus has owned various boats including a Cal 36 sailboat named Seahorsecow on which he lived aboard in the Caribbean for several years in his mid-twenties.
Marcus holds a degree in biomedical engineering from Duke University and has owned a sailing & fishing charter business which he sold in 2019. Marcus also holds a USCG Master Captain’s License with sailing and towing endorsements. He has sailed in North America, South America, and the Caribbean.
Marcus has raced sailing yachts and competed in regattas internationally in the USA, Ecuador, Galapagos, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent. He has multiple first place wins around Long Island including Sagamore YC Commodore’s Cup, Shelter Island Race Week and Shelter Island YC Poor Memorial Race.
Marcus is now the captain of a beautiful and fast J/29 sailboat named Whisper which he uses for adult sailing lessons at Port Jefferson Yacht Club on Long Island.
